Faith alone is not enough. Faith is quiet and internal all by itself. It needs an outlet. Faith alone is not even alive. It is just an idea. Living it, putting it to work, brings it to life.
Compare it to thinking or talking about going on a diet. Unless you DO it, it doesn’t change you!
You could have a lot of information about nutrition. Even a college degree! But unless you put it into practice in your own body, it won’t make a difference. You won’t lose weight. Likewise, you could have all the knowledge necessary to make you able to be a personal trainer. But unless you put into practice all that you know, your body won’t change nor will it be one that draws others to want you to train them.
Or compare it to thinking or talking about going to Italy. Unless you GO, you never really experience it.
You could know everything about Italy. You could know what it looks like, you could have a degree in the history or geography of Italy. You could even learn the language. But if you never go there then all your knowledge and ability never get put to use.
Faith alone is not enough. It is incomplete. It is dead. It has no experience to support it. No continuous working of it to keep it going and growing. It ends up being just an idea in your head. Something you are planning to do. Someday. And things like that usually just end up making you frustrated, because they come from great desires within. And without putting them into practice, they just end up dying away because they never came to be.
James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
